Overview
Aphios HIV therapeutic vaccine is an inactivated whole-virus vaccine candidate being developed by Aphios Corporation for the treatment of HIV/AIDS. The vaccine is produced using a combination of three inactivation methods: genetic attenuation, AT-2 chemical treatment, and the proprietary Critical Fluid Inactivation (CFI) technology. CFI is a physical process that inactivates the virus while preserving the conformational integrity of essential surface antigens, such as the gp120 envelope protein. This preservation is intended to enhance the vaccine's ability to stimulate both humoral and cellular immune responses, including the activation of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells via dendritic cell and macrophage presentation, with the ultimate goal of achieving a functional cure for HIV.
