Overview

APHP-002 is a placebo formulation developed by Aphaia Pharma for use as a control in clinical trials investigating its nutrient-sensing platform for metabolic diseases. In the context of obesity, APHP-002 consists of 2 grams of inert beads combined with a gel composition, designed to mimic the appearance and administration of the active formulation APHD-002 (distal jejunal-release dextrose beads). The active treatment aims to restore natural endocrine signaling pathways by releasing glucose in the distal small intestine to trigger hormones like GLP-1 and PYY. APHP-002 is currently utilized in a Phase 2a randomized, double-blind trial to evaluate the efficacy of these dextrose beads on body weight reduction in obese adults with weight-related comorbidities.
