Apigenin is a naturally occurring flavonoid (specifically a flavone) found in many plants such as chamomile, parsley, celery, and others. It is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Preclinical studies suggest that apigenin may reduce anxiety by modulating GABA receptors in the brain and may support healthy aging by inhibiting CD38 to preserve NAD+ levels important for DNA repair and metabolism. Apigenin also exhibits antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiparasitic activities and has been studied for potential neuroprotective effects against diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
