Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Apigenin-7-O-glucoside, also known as **apigetrin** or **cosmosiin**, is a natural flavonoid glycoside found in various medicinal plants, including *Dendrobium huoshanense*. It is the 7-O-glucoside derivative of the flavone apigenin. Research indicates that apigenin-7-O-glucoside possesses significant anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-atherosclerotic activities. In models of atherosclerosis, it has been shown to reduce lipid accumulation and inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and adhesion molecules. These effects are primarily mediated through the modulation of the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways. It is currently being investigated as a bioactive component of functional foods and traditional medicines for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
