Overview

APIRx-1601, also known as ReneCann, is a topical cannabinoid-based cream in development by Incannex Healthcare for the treatment of vitiligo, with additional exploratory use in other inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. It combines the non‑intoxicating cannabinoids cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG) in a dermatologic formulation designed to modulate cutaneous immune responses and melanocyte survival through cannabinoid receptor and related pathways. A proof‑of‑concept Phase 2 study conducted in the Netherlands in vitiligo patients reportedly showed around 10% reduction in disease scores and diffuse repigmentation, although relapse occurred after treatment cessation, and the program is currently being prepared for confirmatory trials and regulatory filings with manufacturing underway.[2][3]
