Overview

APL1202 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Atransen Pharma that targets the L-type Amino Acid Transporter 1 (LAT1). It is specifically designed as a boron delivery agent for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). By targeting LAT1, which is frequently overexpressed in various malignant cells, APL1202 aims to selectively and efficiently deliver boron to tumor tissues. This selective accumulation is intended to enhance the precision and efficacy of BNCT for deep-seated and refractory malignancies, with a primary development focus on pancreatic cancer. In 2025, the research project involving APL1202 was selected for the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) Next-Generation Cancer Medical Acceleration Research Project (P-PROMOTE).
