APNmAb005 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Aprinoia Therapeutics that selectively targets high-molecular-weight oligomeric and aggregated tau species, particularly synapse-localized tau oligomers implicated in tauopathies such as Alzheimer’s disease.[1][3][5] By binding conformation-specifically to microtubule-associated protein tau oligomers (HMWoTau), APNmAb005 blocks tau seeding in vitro and has demonstrated neuroprotective effects and rescue of neuronal loss in tau transgenic mouse models, supporting its potential as a disease-modifying therapy for tau-driven neurodegeneration.[1][5] The antibody is being evaluated in a first-in-human Phase 1, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled single-ascending-dose study in healthy volunteers, with the goal of enabling future clinical development in Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies.[2][5][7]
