Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ApoGraft is an ex vivo cell-processing technology and therapeutic platform designed to enhance the safety and success of hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCT). Developed by Cellect Biotechnology, the platform leverages the differential sensitivity of various cell types to apoptosis-inducing signals. By exposing donor bone marrow or peripheral blood mononuclear cells to Fas ligand (FasL), ApoGraft selectively triggers apoptosis in mature, alloreactive T-cells—the primary mediators of Graft-versus-Host Disease (GvHD)—while sparing the more robust hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs). This functional selection process aims to provide a purified graft that reduces the incidence of GvHD without requiring the intensive systemic immunosuppression typically associated with allogeneic transplants, thereby potentially improving engraftment and overall patient survival in hematological malignancies and other disorders.
