Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Apomivir is a botanical antiviral drug candidate derived from a proprietary strain of the blue-green algae *Arthrospira platensis* (spirulina), specifically the FEM-101 strain. Developed by Far East Bio-Tec Co., Ltd. (FEBICO), it is produced using a patented freeze-thaw lysis and extraction method. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that Apomivir possesses broad-spectrum antiviral activity, with particular efficacy against seasonal influenza A and B viruses. The drug is thought to inhibit viral entry and replication. It has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for its safety and efficacy in relieving symptoms of seasonal influenza.
