ApoptiCIDe-RGT-Klotho is a preclinical-stage regulated gene therapy developed by Phoenix SENOLYTIX for the treatment of obesity and glucose metabolism disorders, such as diabetes mellitus. It utilizes the proprietary ApoptiCIDe-RGT (Regulated Gene Therapy) platform, which incorporates a safety 'off-switch' based on enhanced cell elimination technology originally developed as CaspaCIDe. This system allows for the rapid reduction or elimination of the therapeutic Klotho protein production within hours of administering PTC-1202, a proprietary small molecule dimerizer (reformulated rimiducid). The therapy is designed to provide a controllable method for modulating Klotho levels to improve metabolic health while mitigating risks associated with permanent gene expression, serving as a proof-of-concept for the ApoptiCIDe-RGT platform.
