Aporon

Aporon is a novel oromucosal spray formulation of apomorphine, developed as a rescue therapy for the treatment of OFF episodes in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Apomorphine is a non-selective dopamine agonist that primarily activates D2-like dopamine receptors and, to a lesser extent, D1-like receptors. It provides rapid relief from motor fluctuations by increasing dopaminergic activity in the brain, thereby improving movement and reducing symptoms such as stiffness and tremor during OFF periods. Unlike traditional subcutaneous injections or infusions of apomorphine, Aporon delivers the drug via an oromucosal (oral spray) route for ease of use and potentially faster onset. As of April 2025, Aporon is in Phase 3 clinical development[4][7].
