Overview

APP-0205 and APP-309 are small-molecule antiviral therapeutics being developed by Aphios Corporation for the treatment of influenza. These compounds were discovered by screening over 1,000 marine microorganism fractions, isolated from both normal and extremophilic environments in United States territorial waters. The discovery process utilizes Aphios' proprietary SuperFluids™ CXF fractionation technology. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that these compounds provide cytoprotection against various strains of influenza A (including H3N2 and H5N1) and influenza B. The development program is conducted under Biohazard Safety Level-3 (BSL-3) conditions and is supported by research agreements with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID/NIH) and the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID/DOD).
