APP-111

APP-111 is a first-in-class, oral antitubulin agent developed by Aspen Park Pharmaceuticals (APP), having acquired worldwide rights from The Ohio State Innovation Foundation. It is being developed primarily for various metastatic cancers, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, metastatic prostate cancer, and specifically castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). The drug's mechanism of action involves preventing microtubule polymerization, which in turn blocks cell division and disrupts androgen receptor signaling. This dual action aims to address the need for new treatments in cancers that have become resistant to standard therapies. APP-111 was in preclinical development, with Phase 1 trials planned for late 2016 for CRPC. Additionally, it is being explored for potential applications in gout and Familial Mediterranean Fever.
