Overview

AppeVax is a veterinary vaccine candidate developed by Vaxdyn for the prevention of porcine pleuropneumonia, a severe respiratory disease in swine caused by the bacterium *Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae*. The vaccine utilizes an inactivated, whole-cell bacterial formulation derived from a proprietary LPS-null (endotoxin-free) strain. This technology is designed to induce a broad and protective immune response against multiple serotypes of the pathogen while avoiding the systemic inflammatory reactions and toxicity typically associated with the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) content of conventional whole-cell vaccines. AppeVax is currently in the lead optimization stage of development.
