APPL-01

APPL-01 is a topical formulation of minoxidil developed by Applied Biology, Inc., specifically designed for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (hair loss). Minoxidil is a prodrug that requires conversion into its active form, minoxidil sulfate, by the enzyme sulfotransferase 1A1 (SULT1A1) located in the hair follicle. Many patients exhibit low SULT1A1 activity, leading to poor clinical response to standard minoxidil treatments. APPL-01 incorporates a proprietary adjuvant intended to upregulate or enhance SULT1A1 enzymatic activity, thereby increasing the local concentration of minoxidil sulfate and improving hair regrowth outcomes in individuals previously identified as non-responders.
