Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AppliGel-G** is a topical hydrogel formulation of gentamicin sulfate designed for the treatment of mild to moderately infected diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). It provides sustained release of gentamicin directly to the wound bed, aiming to achieve high local antibiotic concentrations while minimizing systemic exposure and adverse effects associated with oral or intravenous antibiotics. Developed by Royer Biomedical, Inc., it was tested in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT02036528) comparing its efficacy in combination with oral ciprofloxacin and doxycycline against oral antibiotics alone, with primary endpoints focused on complete clearance of infection within 28 days.[1][3][7]
