Overview
APR-TD012 is a clinical-stage topical drug candidate developed by APR Applied Pharma Research for the treatment of Hailey Hailey Disease (HHD), a rare genetic bullous disorder. The formulation utilizes the proprietary TEHCLO® Applied Nanotechnology platform to deliver stabilized hypochlorous acid (HClO). APR-TD012 acts through a multi-factorial mechanism involving bioburden control and antioxidant properties. It provides antimicrobial activity against common skin pathogens, such as *Staphylococcus aureus*, which frequently infect HHD lesions, and modulates the oxidative stress and redox balance within the wound environment. By reducing inflammation and infection, the drug aims to improve the healing process of vesicles, erosions, and weeping plaques characteristic of HHD, for which there are currently no approved treatments.
