Drug intelligence / Profile preview
APR-TD013 is an investigational topical formulation developed by APR Applied Pharma Research for the treatment of Buruli ulcer, a chronic necrotizing skin infection caused by *Mycobacterium ulcerans*. The drug utilizes the proprietary TEHCLO® Applied Nanotechnology platform, which produces a stabilized acidic oxidizing solution (AOS). The active moiety, typically hypochlorous acid (HClO), provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity by inducing oxidative damage to microbial cell walls, proteins, and nucleic acids. APR-TD013 is designed to manage the wound microenvironment, reduce bacterial load, and promote tissue regeneration in the extensive skin lesions characteristic of Buruli ulcer, potentially serving as a non-invasive adjunct to standard systemic antibiotic therapy.
