Overview

APsulloc 331261 (GTB1) is a live biotherapeutic probiotic strain of *Lactiplantibacillus plantarum* (formerly *Lactobacillus plantarum*) isolated from green tea leaves by the South Korean company AMOREPACIFIC. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D), where it has reached Phase 2 clinical testing. The strain's mechanism of action involves the modulation of gut microbiota, enhancement of short-chain fatty acid production (specifically butyrate), and regulation of the Th1/Th2 cytokine balance. Preclinical studies have also demonstrated its potential in treating atopic dermatitis, obesity, and allergic airway inflammation by reducing epidermal thickness, mast cell infiltration, and mucin hypersecretion.
