Overview

Apt1-67 is an aptamer-based therapeutic candidate designed to specifically target and inhibit tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 (TNFR1). By blocking the interaction between TNF-α and TNFR1, Apt1-67 aims to suppress the pro-inflammatory signaling pathways that drive chronic inflammation and bone destruction in autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. In preclinical studies, Apt1-67 has been evaluated as part of a co-delivery system using separable microneedles, which allow for the rapid release of the aptamer alongside the sustained release of other anti-inflammatory agents like tocilizumab. This approach is intended to improve patient compliance and therapeutic efficacy while minimizing the side effects associated with systemic administration of biologics.
