Overview

APV006 is a hexavalent (6-in-1) vaccine candidate developed by LG Chem to protect infants against six infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) infection. The vaccine is formulated with an acellular pertussis (DTaP) component, distinguishing it from LG Chem's other hexavalent candidate, LBVD, which utilizes a whole-cell pertussis component. By combining multiple antigens into a single injection, APV006 aims to simplify immunization schedules and improve compliance. It is currently in early-stage clinical development, with Phase I trials evaluating its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults. LG Chem plans to commercialize the vaccine in South Korea by 2030 following further clinical development and the construction of dedicated manufacturing facilities.
