APX2050 is a preclinical small molecule inhibitor developed by Apexian Pharmaceuticals that targets the redox signaling function of Apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1/Redox factor-1 (APE1/Ref-1). APE1/Ref-1 is a multifunctional protein involved in DNA base excision repair and the redox-mediated activation of transcription factors such as NF-κB, AP-1, and HIF-1α, which are critical for cancer cell survival, proliferation, and angiogenesis. By specifically inhibiting the redox function of APE1/Ref-1, APX2050 disrupts these pro-tumorigenic signaling pathways. It is a second-generation analog designed for improved potency and efficacy compared to the lead candidate APX3330.
