Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Apyridine P is a fixed-dose combination oral tablet containing flupirtine maleate (100 mg) and paracetamol (325 mg), developed and marketed by Primus Remedies. It is indicated for the short-term management of acute and chronic pain, including post-surgical pain, dental pain, pain associated with muscle spasms, cancer pain, neuropathic pain, low back pain, and migraine. Flupirtine acts as a selective neuronal potassium channel opener (SNEPCO) that activates Kv7 (KCNQ) potassium channels, leading to neuronal membrane hyperpolarization and reduced excitability, while also indirectly antagonizing NMDA receptors and modulating GABA-A receptors to provide muscle relaxation. Paracetamol complements this by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system through the cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway, thereby reducing pain and fever.
