Overview

aQIVc HD is an investigational next-generation influenza vaccine developed by CSL Seqirus. It is a high-dose, quadrivalent, cell-based inactivated subunit vaccine formulated with the MF59 adjuvant. Unlike traditional egg-based vaccines, it utilizes cell-based manufacturing to avoid egg-adaptive mutations that can reduce vaccine effectiveness. The high-dose antigen content combined with the MF59 oil-in-water adjuvant (composed of squalene, polysorbate 80, and sorbitan trioleate) is designed to enhance the immune response, particularly in older adults (50+ years) who often experience immunosenescence. The vaccine targets hemagglutinin and neuraminidase from four influenza strains (two A and two B). It is currently being evaluated in the Phase 3 'Celljuvant' study.
