Overview

AQP3 siRNA is a research-grade small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of Aquaporin 3 (AQP3), a member of the aquaglyceroporin family that facilitates the transport of water and glycerol across cell membranes. It is primarily used as an experimental tool in laboratory settings to investigate the role of AQP3 in various biological processes and diseases, particularly in oncology. Studies have demonstrated that AQP3 siRNA can inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cells, while in bladder cancer models, its knockdown has been linked to increased cell migration and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), suggesting a context-dependent role for AQP3 as either a promoter or suppressor of tumor progression.
