Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AQR-008 is a therapeutic peptide developed by Aqur Biosciences for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, including familial hypercholesterolemia and elevated LDL-C levels. The drug specifically targets the EGF-A domain of the Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor (LDL-R). By binding to this domain, AQR-008 is designed to prevent the degradation of LDL-R, thereby increasing the receptor's availability on the cell surface to clear LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. This mechanism mimics the effect of PCSK9 inhibitors by preserving LDL-R levels. AQR-008 is currently in preclinical development.
