Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aquaphor Healing Ointment is an over-the-counter topical skin protectant formulated primarily with petrolatum (41%) as its active ingredient. It also contains mineral oil, ceresin, lanolin alcohol, panthenol, glycerin, and bisabolol[1][2][3][4][5]. The ointment forms a semi-occlusive barrier on the skin that helps retain moisture and supports the healing of dry, cracked or irritated skin by reducing transepidermal water loss[8]. Panthenol and glycerin act as humectants to attract moisture; bisabolol provides soothing effects. The product is fragrance-free and preservative-free. It is indicated for use on minor cuts, scrapes, burns, chapped or cracked skin and lips, diaper rash prevention/protection from wind/cold weather[7][9]. Developed for dermatological use.
