Aquasite

Aquasite is an amorphous hydrogel wound dressing designed to create and maintain a moist wound environment, which is essential for the healing of chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers (DFU), pressure sores, and surgical incisions. The gel primarily consists of water and glycerin in a polymer matrix and functions by donating moisture to dry wound beds, thereby facilitating autolytic debridement of necrotic tissue. In clinical research, Aquasite is frequently utilized as a standard-of-care (SOC) active control arm, notably in Phase 3 trials sponsored by Integra LifeSciences for novel wound-healing agents like aclerastide (DSC127). Aquasite was originally a product of Derma Sciences, which was acquired by Integra LifeSciences in 2017.
