Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aquoral Lipo is a preservative-free, multi-component ophthalmic lubricant solution developed by Esteve Healthcare for the management of dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). The formulation combines 0.15% cross-linked sodium hyaluronate, liposomes, and crocin to address multiple aspects of ocular surface disease. The cross-linked sodium hyaluronate provides superior viscoelasticity and a longer residence time on the eye compared to linear hyaluronic acid, ensuring prolonged hydration. Liposomes help to reconstruct and stabilize the lipid layer of the tear film, which is particularly beneficial for patients with evaporative dry eye due to meibomian gland dysfunction or blepharitis. Crocin, a carotenoid derivative, provides antioxidant activity to protect the corneal epithelium from oxidative stress and free radical damage. The product is also indicated for corneal protection following ocular surgery, trauma, or environmental stress.
