Overview

AR-3752 is a small molecule agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119) that was developed by Arisaph Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes and obesity. GPR119 is primarily expressed in pancreatic beta cells and intestinal enteroendocrine L-cells. Activation of this receptor by AR-3752 stimulates the glucose-dependent secretion of insulin and promotes the release of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). This dual mechanism of action was intended to improve glycemic control and support weight management. However, development of the compound appears to have ceased following the discontinuation of Arisaph Pharmaceuticals' operations.
