Overview
AR1002 is a small molecule phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitor being developed by ARI Biotechnology (AriBio) for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. As a follow-on candidate to the company's lead asset AR1001, AR1002 is designed to modulate the nitric oxide/cyclic guanosine monophosphate (NO/cGMP) signaling pathway. By inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, the drug increases intracellular levels of cGMP, which is associated with enhanced synaptic plasticity, improved cerebral blood flow, and reduced neuroinflammation. The compound is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, targeting a broad range of neurodegenerative conditions.
