Overview

A combination ophthalmic solution or gel containing arabinogalactan, hyaluronic acid (as sodium salt), and trehalose. This formulation is used primarily as an artificial tear for the treatment of dry eye disease and ocular surface inflammation. The mechanism of action is based on the synergistic properties of its components: - **Arabinogalactan** is a polysaccharide with mucoadhesive and water-retaining properties, contributing to prolonged hydration and protection of the ocular surface. - **Hyaluronic acid** provides viscoelasticity, lubrication, and moisture retention, supporting tear film stability. - **Trehalose** acts as an osmoprotectant and antioxidant, protecting cells from desiccation-induced damage. The combination forms stable supramolecular aggregates that enhance water incorporation into the tear film while reducing solution viscosity. Clinical studies have shown significant improvements in symptoms (e.g., burning, itching), signs (tear break-up time, conjunctival hyperemia), inflammatory markers (MMP-9 reduction), patient comfort, vision quality, and overall tolerability in patients with dry eye disease[2][5][6]. The product is preservative-free and suitable for both day and night use[8][9].
