Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Arcatus is a proprietary injectable suspension of the corticosteroid triamcinolone acetonide, formulated for administration to the suprachoroidal space of the eye. It is indicated for the treatment of macular edema associated with non-infectious uveitis (uveitic macular edema, UME). The drug utilizes an innovative delivery platform—suprachoroidal space microinjection (SCS Microinjector)—which enables targeted delivery to the back of the eye, potentially enhancing efficacy and minimizing adverse effects compared to traditional local corticosteroid therapies. Triamcinolone acetonide acts as a potent anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid by modulating gene expression and suppressing inflammatory mediators. Arcatus is known as Xipere in the United States and has been approved or submitted for approval in multiple regions including China, Australia, Singapore, and others[1][5][6][7].
