Ardox-X Technology mouthrinse is an investigational antimicrobial oral rinse developed by ACTA Dental Research B.V. (Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam) in collaboration with NGen Oral Pharma N.V. The formulation utilizes a peroxoborate-based oxygenating agent (peroxyborate) as its active ingredient, which acts through selective oxygenation and oxidation to inhibit the growth of anaerobic and pathogenic oral bacteria. By targeting oral bacterial biofilms, the mouthrinse aims to prevent de novo dental plaque formation and potentially manage periodontal diseases. Clinical studies in the Netherlands have demonstrated that twice-daily use can shift the oral microbial composition toward a less mature and less diverse plaque state, suggesting potential applications in preventive dentistry.
