Overview

**arf26-44 peptide** is a synthetic, cell-penetrating peptide derived from amino acids 26-44 of the mouse p19ARF tumor suppressor protein. It features nine N-terminal D-arginine residues to promote cellular uptake. The peptide is designed to inhibit the function of the transcription factor FoxM1, which is crucial for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) proliferation and survival. In animal studies, intraperitoneal administration of arf26-44 peptide selectively diminished proliferation, angiogenesis, and tumor size in HCC models, while inducing apoptosis in tumor cells but sparing normal liver tissue. The antitumor effect is mediated by downregulation of FoxM1-driven mitotic regulators including polo-like kinase 1, aurora B kinase, and survivin.
