ARG-006

ARG-006 is a synthetic neuroprotective peptide being developed by Argenica Therapeutics for the treatment of Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy (HIE) in newborns. It belongs to a platform of cationic arginine-rich peptides (CARPs) designed to reduce brain tissue death following neural injury. The drug has received Orphan Drug and Rare Pediatric Disease designations from the FDA. Its mechanism is described as plurifunctional, aimed at mitigating neuronal excitotoxicity, calcium influx, and mitochondrial dysfunction, similar to the company's lead candidate ARG-007. ARG-006 is currently in the discovery and preclinical stages of development.
