ARG-397

ARG-397 is a novel, potent, and selective small molecule inhibitor of activated coagulation Factor XI (FXIa) being developed by Arguello Biosciences for the treatment and prevention of thromboembolic disorders. By targeting the intrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade, ARG-397 is designed to prevent pathological thrombosis while preserving the extrinsic pathway's role in hemostasis, potentially offering a superior safety profile with a lower risk of bleeding compared to traditional anticoagulants like warfarin or direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) that target Factor Xa or thrombin. The compound is currently in early-stage clinical development, with a first-in-human Phase 1 study evaluating its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy adult participants.
