Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ARGD-RR (also known as ARGDRR) is a novel recombinant dual-effect disintegrin peptide derived from snake venom (specifically, a mutant of rhodostomin where the RGD loop sequence 50PRGDMP55 is replaced with 50ARGDRR55). It exhibits high binding affinity for integrins αIIbβ3 and αvβ3. By targeting these integrins, ARGD-RR inhibits platelet activation and neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation, thereby preventing platelet-neutrophil interactions and subsequent inflammation. ARGD-RR is being developed for the prevention and treatment of acute kidney injury (AKI) and its transition to chronic kidney disease (CKD), as well as renal fibrosis, without causing the bleeding or thrombocytopenia side effects typically associated with conventional αIIbβ3 antagonists.
