Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Argorna SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine (also known as ARG-001) is a lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-encapsulated messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine developed by Argorna (Chengdu) Biotechnology for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine is designed to deliver mRNA encoding the spike (S) protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus into host cells. Once administered, the host's cellular machinery translates the mRNA into the viral spike protein, which then acts as an antigen to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies and activate T-cell-mediated immune responses. This technology aims to provide protective immunity against infection and severe disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. As of 2022, the vaccine was undergoing Phase II clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy adult populations.
