Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Arhama-Tinktur N is a prescription-only herbal medicinal product developed by Bombastus-Werke AG for the treatment of acute uncomplicated diarrhea due to gastroenteritis. The formulation is a liquid tincture containing a fluid extract of fresh sage flowers (Salvia officinalis) and an extract of colocynth fruits (Citrullus colocynthis), with approximately 14% ethanol by volume as a solvent. It has been evaluated in a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 3 clinical trial to assess its efficacy and safety in patients with acute diarrhea. The product is currently classified as withdrawn from the market (außer Handel) in Germany. Due to its alcohol content and active botanical ingredients, it was contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding and carried warnings for patients with liver disease, epilepsy, or alcoholism.
