ARI-2035

ARI-2035 is an orally active small molecule inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which was developed by Arisaph Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. As a member of the gliptin class of antidiabetic agents, ARI-2035 functions by blocking the enzyme responsible for the rapid degradation of incretin hormones, specifically glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). The stabilization of these hormones enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppresses glucagon release from alpha cells, thereby improving glycemic control and reducing postprandial glucose excursions. Although the drug reached Phase 2 clinical trials, its development appears to have been discontinued as it is no longer listed in active pipelines.
