Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Arident is a branded formulation of aripiprazole, an atypical antipsychotic marketed by Ardent Life Sciences. It is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia, manic episodes associated with bipolar I disorder, and as an adjunctive therapy for major depressive disorder. As a small molecule, Arident acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors and as an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. This pharmacological profile, often referred to as a dopamine-serotonin system stabilizer, helps regulate neurotransmitter activity to alleviate both positive and negative symptoms of psychiatric disorders while minimizing the risk of extrapyramidal side effects. The drug is available in 5mg and 10mg tablet strengths and works by modulating dopamine overactivity in the brain.
