Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aripiprazole microspheres (LZMT05) is a long-acting injectable (LAI) formulation of the atypical antipsychotic aripiprazole, developed by Livzon Pharmaceutical Group (specifically through its subsidiary Livzon Microsphere Technology). The drug is formulated as biodegradable polymer-based microspheres designed for intramuscular injection, providing sustained release of the active ingredient over approximately one month. Aripiprazole functions as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 and D3 receptors and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors, while acting as an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. This formulation is primarily indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, aiming to improve medication adherence and provide stable therapeutic plasma concentrations compared to daily oral dosing.
