Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Arista AH is a 100% plant-based absorbable surgical hemostatic powder derived from purified plant starch. It incorporates Microporous Polysaccharide Hemospheres (MPH), a patented blood clotting technology. The MPH particles act as molecular sieves that enhance natural hemostasis by concentrating blood solids such as platelets, red blood cells, and blood proteins on the particle surfaces to form a gelled matrix. This concentrated gel matrix provides a barrier to further blood loss and is formed regardless of the patient's coagulation status. Arista AH is typically absorbed within 24 to 48 hours after application. It was developed by Medafor, Inc. and received FDA approval in 2006.
