Overview

ArithroMab is a specialized cocktail of monoclonal antibodies directed against type II collagen (CII), primarily used as a research tool to induce Collagen Antibody-Induced Arthritis (CAIA) in susceptible mouse strains. Developed by MD Bioproducts, this reagent allows researchers to bypass the lengthy immunization phase required by the traditional Collagen-Induced Arthritis (CIA) model, providing a rapid, synchronized, and highly reproducible model of the effector phase of rheumatoid arthritis. The cocktail typically consists of several monoclonal antibodies that recognize distinct epitopes within the C1 domain of CII, leading to immune complex formation, complement activation, and subsequent joint inflammation, edema, and bone erosion. It is widely utilized in preclinical studies to evaluate the efficacy of novel anti-inflammatory and analgesic compounds.
