Overview
Arnica Balsam is a topical herbal medicinal product containing extracts from the flowers of *Arnica montana*. Developed and marketed by medphano Arzneimittel, it is indicated for the external treatment of blunt injuries, including bruises, sprains, contusions, and localized muscle pain. The therapeutic efficacy of arnica is attributed to its sesquiterpene lactone constituents, such as helenalin, which exert anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the activation of the transcription factor NF-κB. This inhibition reduces the expression of pro-inflammatory genes, thereby alleviating swelling and pain associated with tissue trauma.
