Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Arotrix-C is a topical combination antiparasitic cream developed and marketed by Aristopharma Ltd. in Bangladesh. It contains two active small-molecule agents: permethrin and crotamiton. Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that functions as a neurotoxin to ectoparasites by binding to and disrupting the function of voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cell membranes, leading to delayed repolarization and paralysis of the parasites. Crotamiton complements this action with its own scabicidal properties and provides symptomatic relief through its antipruritic (anti-itch) effect. The product is indicated for the treatment of skin infestations such as scabies (caused by *Sarcoptes scabiei*) and lice, as well as the management of associated pruritus.
