Aroxxen is an inhaled medical-grade xenon gas formulation developed by the Research Institute of Geroprotective Technologies. It is primarily investigated for its cardioprotective properties in patients with coronary artery disease, particularly those aged 50-80 undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Xenon acts as a non-competitive antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor and an activator of ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels. By modulating these targets, Aroxxen aims to reduce myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, thereby limiting infarct size and improving clinical outcomes during and after coronary procedures. The drug is specifically tailored for geroprotective applications, aiming to mitigate age-related vulnerabilities to cardiac stress.
