Overview

ARP-1536 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed as an intravitreal injection for the treatment of exudative retinal diseases such as wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME). It targets the extracellular domain of vascular endothelial protein tyrosine phosphatase (VE-PTP), acting as a receptor-like protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor and TIE2 receptor agonist, while also inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factors. By modulating both the Angiopoietin/Tie2 pathway and VEGF signaling, it aims to stabilize blood vessels in retinal diseases. The drug was originally developed by Aerpio Pharmaceuticals and later by Whitehawk Therapeutics (formerly Aadi Bioscience). As of April 2025, no active clinical development or reported clinical trials are ongoing for this agent[1][2][3][4].
