Overview

ARRY-502 is an oral, potent, and highly selective antagonist of the CRTh2 receptor (also known as prostaglandin D2 receptor 2). It was developed for the treatment of allergic asthma, particularly in patients with Th2-driven disease. The drug works by blocking the CRTh2 receptor expressed on Th2 T cells, basophils, and eosinophils; its ligand prostaglandin D2 is released by mast cells and plays a key role in recruiting inflammatory cells that contribute to asthma symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, and exacerbations. In clinical trials for mild to moderate persistent allergic asthma, ARRY-502 demonstrated statistically significant improvements in lung function (FEV1) compared to placebo and showed enhanced activity in patients with elevated Th2 biomarkers. The drug was well tolerated with fewer adverse events than placebo[4][5][6].
